Scaphoid bone is fractured. There is also a perilunate dislocation.


Middle scaphoid (waist) fractures are the most common. Distal fractures are further subdivided into tubercle fracture and articular surface fracture. Proximal fractures are least common. Majority of the blood supply enters distally. Proximal pole is at risk of avascular necrosis if blood supply is disrupted.
