Findings
High signal in the hook of hamate on T2 weighted image and low signal on T1 weighted image are consistent with fracture. Subtle fracture line is also demonstrated.
Discussion
Bone marrow contusions can appear similar and are diagnosed when no clear fracture line is demonstrated. On a microscopic level, the distinction between “fracture” and bone marrow edema becomes less clear as “trabecular disruption” can be referred to as “trabecular fracture.”
